The 737 MAX took to the skies for the first time at 9:46 a.m. Pacific time Friday January 28, 2016, lifting off from Renton Field under typically cloudy and rainy Seattle weather conditions. The 737 MAX program, led by Airplane Development for Commercial Airplanes, was launched in 2011.
